KIA Atlas Sets Sights on Top-Flight Survival in FDH Netball League Debut

The President and owner of KIA Atlas Netball Team, Moffat Kavimwembe Zimba, says the club’s immediate focus is to secure its place in the FDH Bank Netball League as it prepares for its debut season.

Zimba made the remarks as the 2026 FDH Netball League edges closer, with teams entering the final phase of their preparations.

He said, “Our target is to compete and remain in the league. This is our first season at elite level, so our priority is to establish ourselves, adapt to the intensity of top-flight netball, and avoid relegation. From there, we can build towards becoming a competitive force.”

He indicated that preparations have been structured around improving fitness levels, combinations, and overall team cohesion to meet the demands of elite competition.

“The preparations are progressing well. The technical team is working on conditioning, refining combinations across the court, and strengthening our defensive and attacking structures to ensure we are match-ready,” Zimba added.

As part of their build-up, KIA Atlas has lined up a series of high-intensity friendly matches to sharpen performance ahead of the season.

“These preparatory games are important in helping us assess player performance, identify gaps, and make the necessary adjustments. We are also engaging stronger sides within the elite league to expose the team to the level of competition we will face,” he said.

KIA Atlas will compete in the 2026 FDH Netball League following the acquisition and rebranding of Atlas Netball Team, marking its transition into top-tier netball under the KIA Sisters setup.
